Born in Cairo in 1984, as the daughter of a diplomat, she became fascinated by the changing material landscape around her as her family moved from post to post. Her ongoing fascination with the built environment led her to completing a BA in design at the Kent Institute of Art & Design in 2005. She then moved to Berlin to work in a design office and returned to Cairo in 2010 to explore the wealth of craft and heritage that Egypt has to offer. Since then she’s been scouring Cairo’s alleys for hidden crafts excellence. Each of her projects takes a uniquely Egyptian source and reveals overlooked value without pastiche.

Lina's designs have gained international recognition, featured in Architectural Digest, Wallpaper*, and Elle Decor. With a blend of tradition and contemporary flair, Lina's creations tell stories of cultural richness and functional elegance.
